I am excited to announce a new addition to my skill set.

Since my personal skin care has always been a great focus in my life with my career as a performer I decided to go to school to get my esthetician’s license!

I will be graduating from the Aveda Institute next month. I have received an amazing education there and can not wait to put all of my knowledge in to use at a professional level. If you are in the New York area and would like to receive a treatment from me while I am at the Institute I can offer a friends and family discount as well as free upgrades. This is a new exciting transition in my life and I am also going to work on changing my website to be focused more on skin care. I will review products, discuss beauty topics and trends as well as answer many questions that you may have about skin care needs. After graduating I will be taking a (much needed) vacation for a couple of weeks and then hopefully be working somewhere in the city by springtime! Will post again soon with more updates as it gets closer to graduation.

Two huge white cherry blossom trees greeted me as a stepped out of my building today. It’s warming up and my ankles have even been on display a few times this month. I know I still have a few more weeks before I can bust out my rompers but these being in full bloom give me a glimmer of hope for warmer weather : )

One of my favorite “toys” when I was a little girl was a plastic label maker that my grandma gave me, I’m sure she was just trying to get rid of it so she gave it to me to run around and play with, (I remember she did the same thing with an old camera of hers, it had no film) but there was plenty of tape for the label maker and I would run around sticking labels on EVERYTHING. I loved it and now have rekindled my love for the plastic label maker, this time its in the shape of an iPhone app that the boy introduced me to. It’s called labelbox and has been helping me create lots of fun stuff around my site. I often pair it with photos I have taken using the popular hipstamatic iPhone app. Simply, the two paired together makes everything look cool. And I like things to look cool.

There are a few things that get me through my day. Two major ones are my calendar and my checklist. Being a planner girl from a young age I have made the decision to go completely electronic in 2011. No more paper planners, no more post-its. It’s been a fairly easy transition even though it has me anxiously triple checking my iPhone multiple times a day because the mind reinforcement of pen to paper vanished. Also gone is the accomplished feeling of scratching off a big “to do”, you know the one that was written over and over again on the top of every weekly page *ahem, taxes*.

So in order to still have eco-friendly reminders to myself I have a mirror shaped chalkboard wall decal on a wall in my room. On this wall I have framed pictures of people, places and images that inspire me. It’s my favorite thing about my room. I look at it every morning and smile. Especially when there is a big “to do” is crossed off. I tend to leave it up there a couple days before erasing, just for an extra pat on the back. It’s all about the little things.
